The Girl Behind the Books:
Writer’s Digest Book Pipeline Competition has described K.M. Randall’s writing as “vivid narrative,” while other critics have noted its “cinematic” description and “enchanting” prose. With a history that includes a treasonous journalist ancestor, a poem-writing grandfather with a penchant for vampire lore, and a mother whose past inspires wrenching memoir passages, the written word runs deep within Randall’s veins. So when a Faerie circle never ended up stealing her away to another world laced with mystery and magic, she decided to create her own. She started when she was six years old with a poem about a merry fairy, segueing into a passionate affair and flair for writing about the mystical and fantastical.
Her debut novel, Fractured Dream (The Dreamer Saga), the first in an epic fantasy series, was released by Booktrope Publishing in June 2014. Her second novel, a young adult paranormal novel, called The Reaper’s Daughter, was released in May 2015, also by Booktrope, and was republished with Dragon Moon Press in June 2016. She also released Fairytale Lost, the prequel to Fractured Dream, as an exclusive on Wattpad.
When Randall isn’t writing her next novel and being a mommy to a lively little boy, she is busy at work serving as a freelance editor and writer and as the associate editor for a lifestyle magazine that covers contemporary Appalachian Mountain living. During her career, she has worked in newspapers, magazines, and online media covering communities, religion, education, various lifestyles, and the media industry. She is also a book editor, giving her idolization of books a means to turn a passion into a profession.
She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Communications and a bachelor's degree in English-Literature from Nazareth College of Rochester. Randall lives in Upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region with her husband, their energetic and imaginative little boy, a crazy goldendoodle named Luna, and a stubborn maltese mix named Wookie. Randall is currently busy at work on the second book in The Dreamer Saga trilogy, called Shattered World, and a standalone Sci-Fi YA romance.
